Global one health delegation from Ohio State University visit University of Gondar

Global one health for the Digital First Impact Grant project of Ohio State University delegation and experts visited University of Gondar recently.

The main objective Digital First Grant Impact is to expand internationally and provide eLearning education services to partner institutions and Universities in Africa especially in Ethiopia, University of Gondar.

The delegation visits was part of the Global cross-disciplinary, cross-institutional and cross-cultural collaboration international program. The team discussed and shared their views of a Collaboration program and initiative in Distance education and eLearning (ODEE).

Cory Tressler from ODEE introduced the trainees to iPad technology and the iTunes U courses. The delegation launched the iPad initiative and provided training to a 30 one health team from university of Gondar at Senate Hall, followed by distribution of 24 iPads.

The delegation was pleased from their visit and appreciated the forethought and wide vision of University of Gondar.

The Global one health Initiative at Ohio State Health Sciences is currently working with five disciplines like Public health, Veterinary Science, Statistics, geography and Anthropology and collaborating with Ethiopian Partner Institutions.

According to Professor Wondwossen Gebreyes, Ohio State Veterinary Medicines, the main advantage of Digital courses are that they are interconnected, delivered round the year and cost effective which makes it unique and practical.

Partnering with Ethiopian Institutions gives an opportunity to expand services internationally and offer iTunes U and Digital education for courses that facilitated education and learning thereby transforming and bringing in change in African education system and society.
