Humanitarian support for the “Survival Campaign” continues
The University of Gondar has delivered more than 650,000 birr worth of food aid to the people displaced by the war in South Gondar Zone on September 5, 2021. The donations took place in the zones capital of Debre Tabor.
Last week, the invading forces destroyed more than 2,500,000 birr worth of medical equipment in a hospital found in Gayint and many things were looted.

With such atrocities taking place the University of Gondar is in the forefront in trying to bring positive change to these circumstances. It can be recalled that the university has provided various humanitarian assistance (estimated at over 1.8 million birr worth of food and other items) to the displaced people in Debark town of Maitsebri, Derekai and Zarima.

Our university staff have also donated 4,600,000 birr (four million six hundred thousand birr) for the law enforcement campaign, and recently the university community pledged to reduce its salary to donate a combined 50,000,000 (over fifty million birr) for the campaign. Our students are also raising support by changing their lunch schedule, stressing they do not want to see hunger and starvation, hence they are doing their part with the little they have.
Our university community as a whole is making a series of blood donations to prevent anemia as well and today we have the third round of donation being held in our own Maraki Campus.
