Vast literature, plays, songs and biographies have been written about the late king. His magnificent accolades in trying to modernize a country that had been in the dark of centuries bought him the name of the ‘modernizer’. Yet he also did many more things for the country which made for a great opportunity to form a question and answer competition in his name. Yosef Nigusay and Fitsum Asmamaw, who answered questions as a pair won the competition, while Binyam Goytem won second and Sintayo Kassa and Babay Zeleke won third.
The trip and journey from Quara to Maqdala, the beauty pageant that was held at Bahar Dar University and now the question and answer competition is just some of the events that tries to honor and celebrate one of the country’s greatest leaders. Moreover the University of Gondar is ready to transition to the next phase of the celebrations.
