About the Station
Community radio stations are unique platforms designed to serve the specific needs of a particular community. Unlike commercial or public broadcasters, community radio is non-profit, community-owned, and community-driven. These stations prioritize local voices, offering news, information, and cultural programming often overlooked by mainstream media. They foster engagement by enabling individuals and groups to share their stories, while also providing a space for civil society, NGOs, universities, and local agencies to collaborate on development initiatives.
The University of Gondar’s Community Radio Station secured its license from the Ethiopian Media Authority in 2025, operating under Media Proclamation No. 1238/2021 and Directive No. 924/2014.
