
UoG Focuses on Female Researchers via Capacity Building Training
The University of Gondar’s vice president of Research and Technology Transfer organized a Capacity Enhancement Training on Research, Innovation, and Leadership for Female Researchers. The training will run for four consecutive days from March 23, 2023, at the Maraki Campus’s Aluminum Hall.

Dr. Binyam Chaklu, the Research and Technology Transfer vice president, shared that the training is not a new phenomenon and that the University of Gondar will continue to try to build the capacity of its staff.
“Training was provided to build the research capacity of female researchers,” shared Dr. Binyam, “ this year, the training will be provided to empower women in research by finding research grants, and the trainees will be expected to create mutual connections or networks, prepare proposals, design projects and find funds, and scale up the improved technologies in the university.”
Kefale Enyew, the main coordinator of the project, said that this training is based on the training given last year and aims to increase the research capacity of female researchers, and the technological transitions that reveal themselves from their studies.

“The research work from our female researchers,” shared Kefale, “will improve the living standards of the farming community, especially women farmers and those people who are with impairments.”
It is known that the lecturers of the University of Gondar are doing many studies, community service engagements, and technology transfer initiatives. In addition to this, the University of Gondar is always willing to provide and offer worthwhile budget support either jointly or individually. The trainees will be trained in two halls by scholars who are well-known in the field of project writing, budget acquisition, leadership, and other related topics.
Moreover, in collaboration with an institution called RISA, a research team of 11 members from various colleges and departments of the university, headed by Mr. Kefale Enyew, is working on the topic theme entitled, “Improving Livelihoods of Disadvantaged Communities in North West Ethiopia through scaling up Innovative Agricultural Technologies.”
