UoG aids those most hard hit by COVID-19
84 UoG faculty members who live in the staff housing near Red Fox Hotel donated their own money and raised fifty thousand birr (50,000) for 47 financially disadvantaged families who live in the Kebele 18 “Samuna Ber” neighborhood.
The assistance was given to those families who were most hit by the effects of the COVID-19 and lost access to their income, the elderly who have no other helping hand and heads of households. In order for them to enjoy the Easter Holiday they were given 20 kgs of flour, 3 liters of oil, two hundred birr (200 birr) and plenty of soap.
The environment of the handing over ceremony shared the sentiments and had the sense of “all the trying times will eventually pass and let’s all live with compassion and with the spirit of helping one another.”
