UoG Hosts an Event that focuses on the Ethio-Sudan Boarder
Today on 31 July 2020 the University of Gondar in Cooperation with the West-Gondar Zone Administration organized an event that centered on the centuries old dispute regarding the Ethio-Sudan boarder.

The workshop, which was entitled “Bringing to light the Historical Background of the Ethio-Sudan Border”, brought individuals from various governmental organizations.

Those in attendance included H.E Mr. Temesgen Tiruneh, Amhara State President, Dr. Asrat Atsedeweyn, UoG President, Mr. Agengew Teshager, Head of Amhara Kilil’s Prosperity Party Office, Mr. Adebabay Mulugeta, West Gondar Zone Administrator, Engineer Mastewal Seyum, Gondar City mayor, General Adamneh Mengistay, Northern Amhara Deputy General and Presidents from various Amhara Universities.

The discussions that took place were of an academic scope and those who were well versed on the topic brought forth presentations on the dynamic of the boarder situation with the country of Sudan.

Professor Mulatu Wubneh, Mrs. Lemem Fissa, Mr. Wuheeb Muluneh and Mr. Alemeyheu Irkyihun presented papers during the event.

The presentations centered on the historical ties between Ethiopia and Sudan, past demarcations of contention, the economy of the areas in question and past governmental efforts taken in the matter.
