A visit was made to the ongoing activities at the University of Gondar
A delegation led by the Minister of Health of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Dr. Leah Tadesse, visited the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital.
In addition to Dr. Leah Tadesse, State Minister for Peace, Ms. Frealem Shebabaw, State Minister for Health, Dr. Dereje Duguma, Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces Health Directorate, Major General Tigabu Yilma, Director General of the Ethiopian Drug Supply Agency, Dr. Abdulkadir Gelgelo, Head of Amhara Health Bureau, Dr. Melkamu Abate and other members of the delegation toured the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital.
During the visit, the government representatives visited more than 1,500 members of the armed forces who were injured by the ongoing law enforcement operation and in addition they spoke to those officers and members of the Northern Command who were abducted by the TPLF. All are recovering well and discussions were had with those who were visited.
During the discussions in the Science Amba auditorium a welcome message was delivered by Dr. Asrat Atsedeweyn, President of the University of Gondar. In his speech the President expressed that although the war started at an unexpected time, the University of Gondar has made a multi-sectoral contribution to fulfilling its institutional obligations since the start of the war.
He shared that the university hospital is treating heroic individuals and that UoG’s medical professionals will continue to create an atmosphere that will suit their needs. He thanked all those who supported UoG on various fronts.
