The University of Maryland – Strengthening International Links!

The University of Gondar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Maryland at College Park to nurture academic cooperation.
In accordance with a desire to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of both the University of Maryland, USA and the University of Gondar the two institutions have agreed to develop joint projects to enhance the exchange of scientific knowledge and cultural traditions at a global level.
The agreement, signed at the senate hall in the University of Gondar, aims to facilitate and further enhance academic cooperation through the exchange of faculty and students for research, teaching and study, joint research activities, and the exchange of scholars for seminars, conferences and other academic meetings between the University of Maryland and University of Gondar.
Dr Desalegn Mengesha, Vice President for Academic, Research and Community Service at the University of Gondar briefed the delegates about the University’s major accomplishments and its current performance in teaching-learning, ICT infrastructure, research and community services.
He also added that as a young university with 58 undergraduate and 64 postgraduate programs, this agreement presents the University of Gondar with an exciting opportunity to learn and develop its activities further.

The University of Maryland delegates led by Professor of Soil Science and Director of International Programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources Dr. Miller also visited the different campuses including the Meles Zenawi campus (the new site for the Faculty of Agriculture), which is located 20 km from the main campus.
