Special Alumni Diamond Jubilee Information Session
The University of Gondar run a special information session for its alumni on the upcoming Diamond Jubilee Celebrations on the 21st of February 2014 at Ghion Hotel in Addis Ababa.
The event was attended by over 160 alumni including early graduates of the Public Health College and Training Center. Alumni included two graduates from 1959 and the country’s first female Health Officer graduates. The meeting, chaired by Professor Mengesha Admassu, was also attended by the University’s top management including Ato Solomon Abraha, Administrative Vice President, Professor Afework Kassu, Research and Community Vice President and Dr Sisay Yifru, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Participants were presented with the University’s Diamond Jubilee Road Map and given details of the wide range of initiatives that they can participate both in the run up to, and during, the key note celebrations due to be held in July 2014.
The evening was a warm and festive occasion with graduates reconnecting with each other and sharing their memories of the institution. Many alumni expressed their love for the institution and their fervent desire to support the celebration through all available means. Organised by the Diamond Jubilee Fundraising and Promotion team (Ms Mekdes Alemayehu, Ato Yifoker Tefera, Ato Tazebachew Demelash and Ato Girum Teklewold) were also able to gather detailed information from attendants about ways that they can participate in the events’ fundraising, promotion and planning.
