Background Information
The Department of Water Resources and Irrigation Management was launched in 2004 E.C. Academic Year under the then Faculty of Agriculture and the current College of Agriculture and Rural Transformation of University of Gondar (UoG). The department started its function with 39 regular and 59 extension undergraduate students. The department has been undertaking different problem solving research, community service and technology Transfer projects. Currently, the department has 206 undergraduate students (126 in regular and 80 in summer) and 13 academic staff.
The department aims to achieve the following objectives:
- To produce qualified and competent graduates in the field of Water Resource and Irrigation Management
- To provide community services
- To facilitate, promote and disseminate appropriate technologies related to water resource and Irrigation Management

Department of WRIM shares the mission and vision of the College of Agriculture and Rural Transformation of the University of Gondar and has the following mission and vision:
