
University of Gondar and Africa for Africa Women Launch Young Entrepreneurs Network
The University of Gondar, in partnership with Africa for Africa Women, officially launched the Young Entrepreneurs Network on May 26, 2026. Organized by the International Relations and Partnerships Directorate Office, the event marked the implementation of a bilateral agreement aimed at advancing youth and women’s empowerment across Africa.

The program brought together university leaders, representatives of Africa for Africa Women, female faculty members, researchers, students, and invited guests. Among the attendees were Dr. Kassahun Tegegne, University of Gondar’s Academic Vice President; Mr. Lijalem Gashaw, Vice President for Administration and Development; Mrs. Bea Hackula, Founder and President of Africa for Africa Women; and Ms. Siya Mdingi, Country Director of Africa for Africa Women South Africa.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Kassahun emphasized that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to innovation, youth and women’s empowerment, and sustainable development.

The event featured presentations on women’s empowerment and academic inclusion by Dr. Selamawit Zewdie, Vice Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Dr. Yezbie Kassa, Vice Dean of the College of Natural and Computational Sciences and President of the UoG Female Academic Association.
The program also included the official pledge and launch of the Young Entrepreneurs Network, followed by discussions on future collaborative initiatives and community-centered engagement.
