28th Annual Research Conference concludes at UoG

The University of Gondar’s 28th Annual Research Conference, a 2 day occasion, was a successful event marking the 28th time Ethiopia’s top educational institution gave research due acknowledgment. The tradition of working on and publishing worthwhile research does not only have benefits for the country of Ethiopia but can also bring practical results to other nations as well.

The results of numerous research conclusions that were being conducted in this country were presented in the conference in the main hall and also in parallel sessions. These findings, through rigorous vetting, could actually be the standard for outside organizations, institutions and governments.

The creativity and thought process that goes into doing research is unique; therefore, all research is important to the development of the world. Since 1982 Ethiopian calendar and 1990 western, the University of Gondar has expressed its willingness to be custodians of knowledge and the keeper of intellectual thought. And it is clear that UoG’s commitment to research and publication will only grow in the years and decades to come. Research for Evidence Based Development, as this year’s theme expressed, can only bring forth practical results for the progress of the nation.

Upon the conclusion of the conference the University of Gondar recognized the lifetime achievement of 8 professors who create an environment that is suitable for research and development. Therefore, Professor Mersha Chanie, Professor Amsalu Feleke, Professor Feleke Moges, Professor Berhanu Andualem, Professor Raja Nagappan, Professor Azmal Husen and newly instated Professors Nega Berhan and Baye Gelaw must be acknowledged when research is referenced. Their award ceremony included speeches and awards that were presented to these fine individuals.
