Addis Ababa Alumni Steering Committee Established
University of Gondar alumni (past graduates) based in Addis Ababa have joined together to establish a steering committee. The committee held its first ever meeting on Saturday 1st March 2014 at the University Guest House.
Still in infancy, the committee was born out of the desire expressed by many past graduates based in Addis Ababa to help support the
University’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in a planned and coordinated manner. With this as a current mandate the committee hopes to provide advice and practical support to ensure a colorful and successful celebrations. The committee is still in the process of formation and is recruiting additional members.
This is an exciting and important development for the University, allowing the institution to strengthen the bonds between this very crucial part of its community. The committee’s current members and the recently registered alumni totaling around 280 include graduates from as far back as 1958 and represent a rich source of history, memory and inspiration.
In the meeting chaired by Professor Mengesha Admassu, the attending committee members discussed the various ways that the University’s alumni community can participate and contribute towards the celebrations.
