Community Engagement and Industry Linkage (CEIL) Directorate
The Community Engagement and Industry linkage (CEID) is accountable to the Office of the Research and Collaboration Vice President and have the following roles and responsibilities.
- Plan physical, financial and procurement activities of the university in quarterly and annual basis and submit it to Plan and Information Directorate and RCVP Office.
- Lead coordinators and the CEIL directorate
- Execute activities based on the university strategic goal, mission, and vision
- Prepare annual and quarterly reports of the directorate and submit them to Plan and Information Directorate and the office RCVP Office.
- Prepare calls for regular and special community engagement and technology transfer proposals in consultation with RCVP Office head.
- Ensure the proper allocation and utilization of the budget for the CEILD activities in consultation with RCVP Office and its team.
- Coordinate need assessment, customer satisfaction survey, and feedback from customers, community members, industries and other stakeholders for identification of priority areas and to review and update CEILD activities.
- Asses the community/industry demand and design a strategy to bring solutions to their problem.
- Foster a working environment that encourages staff and students to engage with the community and strengthen industry linkages and partnership networking.
- Develop and/or review working documents/guidelines/standards/forms for the effective implementation of CEIL based on the national, institutional goals and societal needs.
- Work closely with RC Office team to organize and facilitate seminars, symposia, conferences, workshops, and other academic events to promote community engagement and industry linkages.
- Ensure that CEIL activities align with the institution’s thematic areas.
- Organize workshops, forums, symposia, exhibitions, conferences, exhibition, consultative meetings, and other platforms to share CEIL activities with the local and the scientific community at local, regional, national and international levels.
- Facilitate demand-driven capacity-building activities for the university community in relation to CEIL.
- Identify, establish and strengthen forward and backward institutional linkage with industries that will work with university and make the partnership sustainable through Memorandum of Understanding and/or Memorandum of agreements, collaborative research, student internship, consultancy, externship, industry-staff-student exchange.
- Facilitate local and international grant searching for Community Engagement, Technology Transfer, and linkage in collaboration with Grant search and collaboration management and Research Affairs Directorates.
- Serve as the university’s liaison and communicate on matters related to CEIL with relevant internal and external organizations.
- Monitor CEIL activities conducted within each college, institute, or school, offering feedback and guidance to improve their effectiveness.
- Cascade the strategic plan of the university into the directorate office for community engagement and industry linkage.
- Fostering university’s collaboration and partnership with local, regional, national and internation organizations and industries.
- Ensure the successful implementation of proposal review, implementation and reporting for various community engagement, industry linkage and technology transfer projects.
- Promote public private partnership for community engagement, industry linkage and technology transfer project implementations.
- Facilitate the Stakeholders’ integration in the implementation of community service, industry linkage and technology transfer.
- Promote, disseminate and scaling-up successful of technology transfer and community engagement interventions through variety of media (such as community radio program, exhibitions, and national and international workshops).
- Lead and coordinate the successful implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) center of the University.
- Establish joint planning with various industries pertinent to universities areas of differentiation.
- Strengthen capacity development through pertinent trainings and experience sharing on the current state of arts in community engagement, technology transfer, and industry linkage.
- Create a collaborative work spirit with all directorate offices under the vice president for research and technology transfer (Such as research affairs, grant searching and collaboration and entrepreneurship and technology development directorate office).
- Establish data base of the directorate for better documentation and communication.
- Integrate the activities of various research centers of the university with community engagement and technology transfer.
- Develop and implement Result Based Monitoring and Evaluation system for various community engagement, industry linkage and technology transfer projects and interventions of the university.
- Perform such other responsibilities as assigned to him/her by the RCVP Office.
