The faculty of Informatics undergoes a Curriculum Workshop
The University of Gondar is one of the oldest and most distinguished first generation higher education institutions in the country. As a leader this University is opening all sorts of new departments regarding first degree, second degree and PHD programs. UoG tries to complement this need by creating great scholars. It should be said that this curriculum is a first of its kind in Ethiopia. This opportunity will allow the students, who graduate, to go into careers including data scientists, data analyst, big data expert and data engineer positions locally or even internationally.
Departments have opened recently at the University of Gondar these include Theater and Arts, Film and Television Production and the Informatics faculty. Now a days, the University of Gondar’s faculty of Informatics is currently seen organizing curriculum workshops in MSC Science. The current work shop that was conducted on 20 April 2018 was a new curriculum workshop on MSc in Information Science (data science and analytics).

Research presenters from Addis Ababa University, Mekele University, Information Network and Security Agency (INSA) and German International Cooperation (GIZ) were present at the work shop. Deans, Directors and Students also participated in the occasion to share insights.
After the well coming speech by Mr. Tewodros Alemu, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics, Dr. Asrat Atsdeweyen Academic Vice President of UoG officially opened the program.
The main objective of the workshop is to produce graduates with big data analytic and technical skills. To do this, individuals will have to extract meaningful data and information effectively from massive amounts of data to support the management and operations of an organization. The curriculum review is just one way to grow scholarly fervor at the University of Gondar and with newly constructed facilities to house great knowledge UoG is fit to introduce next generation leaders.
