“One book for my University library” Exemplary Initiative by UoG’s Staff Pursuing their Postgraduate Studies in India

Bravo! Dear True Fellow Scholars of UoG!
The delegate team that traveled to India recently, being led by UoG’s Academic vice President, Dr. Asrat Atsedewoyen, to make collaborative arrangements with of Punjab University Patila (PUP), would undoubtedly be surprised by the groundbreaking-“one book for my University library” initiative and exemplary commitment, practically demonstrated by fellow academic staff of UoG who are pursuing their postgraduate studies at the same university, PUP. Here is their own reported account on how and why this initiative is started:
“The scholars had preliminary discussions among themselves on how to welcome the delegates. Subsequently, it has been agreed among the scholars to apply a ‘One book for my University library’ concept and accordingly all UoG PhD students at Punjabi university contributed a minimum of one of their favorite book to UoG library”.
This philanthropic action by the fellow scholars has a much higher implication beyond generosity. It is a real sign of their wisdom, and true love for their mother institution. Most importantly, their binding motto-‘One book for my University library’ is a marvelous and potentially powerful mobilizing concept, that has to be adopted and held at University level, for instance to mobilize the university’s alumni living worldwide to support their mother institution likewise. Thus, responsible bodies of the university such as the Alumni directorate, need to take time and ponder on this wonderful concept.
Long live dear fellow scholars!
