Professor Mengesha Admasu opens Diamond Jubilee’s subcommittee Meeting
Formed subcommittees of the Diamond Jubilee’s celebration of university of Gondar met on December, 20, 2012. The organizing committee was set by Professor Mengsha Admasu, President of university of Gondar, who is the chairperson of the executive committee. In his opening remark Prof. Mengesha appreciated the initiation taken and underlined the objective the celebration which is maintaining close cooperation among former students and help alumni keep alive the friendships, associations and interests they formed as students at and maintain the interest of the alumni in the University. The president also pointed out the achievement and historical journey of the university in the last six decade to the committee members.
The purpose of the meeting was to introduce members of the diamond jubilee subcommittees, to help the
subcommittees understand their roles and responsibilities. It is also announced that this pioneer institution will mark its 60th year anniversary, the diamond jubilee, in July 2014.
The University of Gondar recently owns 58 undergraduate and 66 postgraduate programs. Currently there are more than 26,000 students in its regular, extension, distance and summer program including a public health PhD program.
