About
Dr. Bitwoded Admasu Dagnaw is an Associate Professor of Global Studies at the University of Gondar, College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Department of Political Science and Governance Studies, where he has been serving in teaching, research, and academic leadership roles for over a decade.
He earned his PhD in History from the University of Gondar in 2025 and holds an MA in European Political Studies from Jagiellonian University, Poland.
His academic career began at Debremarkos University, followed by service at the University of Gondar as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor.
Dr. Bitwoded has held key administrative positions, including Dean of Students, Registrar Head of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Head of the Department of Civics and Ethical Studies, and has a strong record of mentoring postgraduate students and supervising research at MA and PhD levels.
His teaching portfolio includes Ethiopian foreign policy, federalism, conflict dynamics, human rights, and African socio-political systems.
His research contributions focus on Ethiopian political history, federalism, governance, and international relations, with publications addressing ethnic federalism, the Red Terror period, Ethiopian foreign policy, European integration, and religious and political dynamics in early modern Ethiopia.
He has participated in international academic forums, including the African Unity Renaissance International Conferences in South Africa.
His academic and professional interests include international relations, foreign policy and diplomacy, political history, federalism, and political theory, and he is recognized for communication skills, cross-cultural competence, and commitment to academic excellence, community service, and research-driven policy engagement.
Grants and Awards
The project, titled “Analyzing Conflict and Crime Dynamics: Intervention Strategies for Effective Crime Management in Gondar City Administration (2024–2026),” involves the coordination and leadership of eight research teams.
Supervision
He is actively engaged in teaching and supervising both MA and PhD students, while also contributing to research and community service initiatives.
