The ICT directorate at UoG launch its latest batch of forward-thinking Software

Opening the introductory program, Dr. Asrat Atsedeweyn said, “ICT infrastructure is one of the main reasons why our university has been named one of the best in the country. Today, technology in the world and in our country is growing rapidly, so we need to work harder to develop technology in our own institutions and maintain a level of innovative excellence and growth.” He thanked the software development team and the office of the Vice President of Business and Development who are coordinating the efforts in this work.

Dr. Meseret Kassa, Vice President of Business and Development has been at the helm of the work and overseeing the effective and timely completion of the many initiatives the ICT Directorate was engaged in. On her part shared “This year, various programs and software have been developed by the ICT Directorate of the University of Gondar. It is known that the ICT Directorate has developed an institutional ICT policy and a number of application software, and today’s program is designed to enable the heads of various institutional units and the general University Community to understand and implement the software that have been developed.

A discussion period took place where participants and those in attendance got the chance to share their thoughts on the work that had been done. All of the questions that were raised were taken constructively by the ICT team and further work to ensure the smooth functionality of the software is one of the top priorities moving forward.

It is clear that from the launching event that the software development team has been able to develop eight approved software for UoG and the general public. Some of the Software that were created include alumni management system, community wide health insurance, gate pass portal, ticket/support system, postgraduate information and thesis management system and registrar portal. All of the software, with the addition of a completely renewed University Website, will create a better experience for the UoG community and the public.
