The “World Breastfeeding Week” solemnized by Gondar University ends up its campaign.
The campaign program, which was arranged for a week by the Midwife Directorate in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Gondar University ended up August 8, 2019. This year’s World Breastfeeding Week is campaigned under the slogan entitled on “Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding”.
Dr. Sissy Yifru, the executive General director of Medicine and Health Science College and Referral hospital with v/president rank, delivered a speech the ways parents get empower. He also spoke out the value of breastfeeding. Participates from different Gondar City Health institutions and the Midwifery Association in Ethiopia, and coordinators and mothers were attending the concluding program.
At the launch of the program, Edenshaw Admasu, a director of Midwife delivered a cordial welcoming speech to the participants and organizers. Dr. Chernet Bayeh, a head of the Department of Gynecology, also reiterated the importance of protect children’s right to educate and to be healthy, and the professional should put their efforts to enhance the awareness of the community in these regards.
At the event, Mr. Solomon Hailemeskel, President of the Ethiopian Midwives Association, also thanked the Midwife staff who participated in the “breastfeeding” campaign.
Dr. Amare Tariku, an assistant Professor and a PhD candidate, conferred a discussion with the participated who watched a documentary that was showcased in the concluding program. In the discussion, he recapped that breastfeeding wouldn’t get attention unless health professionals begin discussions.
Finally, the program ended up by awarding highest performing coordinators among the staff. Dr. Sissy Yifru, provides concluding remarks by saying “Let us all help mothers to breastfeed comfortably.” The participants of the symposium visit mother who are breastfeeding in the Hospital.
