University of Gondar Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Indonesian Higher Education Institutions
On August 7, 2024, the University of Gondar signed an agreement with five Indonesian higher education institutions, namely Institut Agama Kristen Negeri (IAKN) Manado (Manado State Institute for Christian Studies), Raden Wijaya State Buddhist College (Wonogiri-Central Java), Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, Sekolah Tinggi Agama Katolik Negeri Pontianak, and I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar Hindu State University.
The MoUs are aimed to create a foundation for beneficial collaborations between the universities in areas of staff and student exchange, joint research and development projects, cultural and language training and resource sharing.
During the agreement signing, it was indicated that these kinds of collaboration between the higher education institutions contribute to the public diplomacy efforts of the two countries and it is important to commit to translating the agreements into tangible actions.
The signing ceremony was attended by his Excellency, Al Busyra Bansur, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, a representative of Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, delegations of the five Indonesian universities and the University of Gondar’s delegation led by Dr. Asrat Atsedeweyn.
