UoG Inaugurates a book about the current challenges of Universities
The University of Gondar’s Public and International Relations Directorate organized a book launching ceremony on 13 April 2021. The newly released book entitled “Current Challenges of Our Universities” by Dr. Tafere Melaku, President of Debre Markos University, was inaugurated in University of Gondar’s Aluminum Hall in the presence of UoG higher officials and interested guests.
The ceremony encapsulated the books review by university staff, question and answer sessions, handing over ceremony, forward by the author and a musical performance.
The overall concept of the book tried to, in a realistic and never before seen fashion, put forward the complexities of University dealings. Dr. Tafere shared his experience and views for the betterment of Ethiopian Universities by pin pointing some untold truths about the system of higher education institutions. He also displayed mastery of the Amharic language by creating a narrative that flows like a biography with form and style.
In his remarks at the end of the ceremony, the author shared that it was his passion and ultimate goal to see a better Ethiopia and his book is a way to correct wrongs for future situations. Putting himself as the protagonist he vividly shares that he undoubtedly experienced every instance in the book whether good or bad. The book is now open for the public and those who would like to get firsthand accounts of the ins and outs of University administration during some of the toughest times in Ethiopian history the book reviewers put forth their recommendations for its readability and authenticity.
