UoG’s Management Team attended the 32nd National Higher Education Institutional Council Meeting Held at Debre Markos
University of Gondar’s management team led by the president, Dr. Desalegn Mengesha, including the Academic vice president, Dr. Asrat Atsedewoyen, Business Development vice president, Dr. Yinges Alemu, Plan and Data Directorate delegate Director-Mr. Gashaw Neberu, and a delegate of student’s union president, student Dawit attended the 32nd National higher education institutional council meeting held at Debre Markos from May 27-28, 2006 E.C that was organized by the Ministry of education.
This forum chaired by HESC Mr. Shiferaw Shigutie, Minister of Education, and the State Minister of Education, HE Dr. Kaba Urgesa, was also attended by presidents, vice presidents, student unions’ presidents of other Universities in the nation, the Higher education standing committee of the House of Representatives, and other officials of member institutions under Ministry of education.
As the main agenda of the meeting was to evaluate and discuss on the nine-month performance status of the higher learning institutions in the nation in terms of all their engagement areas, namely: education, research, community service, technology transfer, university-industry linkage, and good governance, six selected universities were made to present their 9 month performance report to the audience. Besides, supervision team report of the Higher Education Inspection Directorate that surveyed all Universities in the previous month was the other focal agendum of discussion for the occasion.
Accordingly, throughout the whole meeting days, hot discussions have been made amongst the participants, and various constructive comments and suggestions were forwarded on the topics of discussion. Finally, the Minister and the state Minister passed strategic directions to all the universities so as to complete the current academic year successfully, and to make all the necessary preparations for the next academic year.
