Visit to the University of Gondar by the Canadian Ambassador
The Canadian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Joshua Tabah (PhD), and his embassy staff paid a visit to the University of Gondar on February 8, 2024.
The University of Gondar’s top management, Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program management, staff, scholars, and alumni and Canadian scholars cordially welcomed his Excellency’s team.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Binyam Chaklu, Vice President for Research, gave an overview of the academic, research and community service engagements that the University has embarked upon.
The ambassador was also briefed about the major activities and achievements of one of the University of Gondar’s projects, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, by Dr. Molalign Belay, Co-Director of the Program.
Questions that are related to furthering collaboration in areas of agriculture, engineering and technology; ensuring women’s empowerment and gender equity, and facilitating document authentication and consular services for University of Gondar’s staff and students and Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Scholars and Alumni were forwarded to his Excellency.
Ambassador Dr. Tabah and his team expressed that they are impressed by the incredible work that is being done on partnerships and collaboration with Canadian institutions and disability inclusion. Eventually, he expressed his commitment and full support within his mandate to the University and the Program.
